Played guitar in summer camp as a kid; ya it was only three or four chords, but I still have the song book!
Took two quarters of lessons around 2000 with a friend who had graduated from Cornish and ran the American Music School (Fremont, WA) using the Hal Leonard books. Second quarter graduation including playing ‘My Generation’ by The Who. Man! 3 variations of an F chord! Wasn’t easy, but sure was fun!
He also taught a music theory class. It was a LOT of material in a short period of time, but I managed to do well. I should be able to go back and correct my own tests now that I have finished the first two sections of BassBuzz!
Anyway, before doing the BassBuzz course, my goal was to get going on guitar again, as it’s been a while. I will most likely be using the same Orlando 304 that I used in summer camp, which isn’t to say I haven’t suffered(?) some guitar GAS whilst also bass gassing!
So happy to be able to get a leg up on guitar again, thanks!
Oh, about me; I love to cook gourmet (nutritious) foods, rescue Australian shepherds’ in need of homes and rehabilitation and exploring deep rabbit holes.
Someone recently turned me on to a podcast that luckily is transcribed, because I am a much better reader than listener.
Great to see this site launch.
Played drums from about 1967 to 1982. Bought a Rickenbacker 360 from the lead guitar player when the band broke up, and spent the next 40 years noodling away aimlessly, playing the same dozen chords over and over and not really learning anything. Job and family took priority.
In 2021 joined two of my college roommates from 50 years ago who wanted to improve their guitar playing. One of them had an old Yamaha bass hanging on the wall and that led me to a BassBuzz detour which I graduated in April 2023. I made more progress in six weeks of BassBuzz than 40 years of trying to self-teach guitar.
So when I saw that GuitarBuzz was launching, there was no doubt: I had to sign up.
Looking forward to the course.

I’ve been waiting (Im)patiently for this course/site to finally launch ever since I heard about it.
I started with piano as a kid, then played trumpet in middle school. Got a bass guitar in 1999 with the intention to learn but life got in the way and didn’t pick it up again until late 2025. I kind of winged it trying to learn by myself until I finally decided to do Bassbuzz and learned more in a week than the 26 years prior. I picked up a guitar to be able to fill in some higher octave stuff and to keep learning. I tried some School of Rock online stuff while doing bass stuff with them and also tried Justin Guitar for a little bit but it wasn’t sticking much. I’ve done the Bassbuzz course and knew if Guitarbuzz was delivered in a similar way, even if a different instructor than Josh, that it’d be a no-brainer to sign up immediately.
Looking forward to my new journey!
